David Le Lay formed the practice in 1970. Based in Chelsea, David Le Lay Architects has carried out work throughout the country, though principally in London and the Home Counties. The majority of work undertaken has been high quality residential work of all types, though in recent years developments have also included commercial office space and affordable housing. The practice has won a number of awards including the Good Housing Award for the development, Lakeside Grange at Oatlands Park in Weybridge, Surrey. Many of the projects have comprised new development within the grounds of listed buildings, on sites of architectural or historic importance and within designated conservation areas. The practice has experience in both landscape design and urban design, with much emphasis being put upon the context of any development. David Le Lay Architects embody sustainable practices and are active members of the Green Register.
