ESHA Architects was established in 2004 by Neil Embleton, Peterjohn Smyth and Willie Harbinson who previously led the Bristol office of Percy Thomas Partnership, and still operates from the same office in King Street. The three principals have been heavily involved in urban and housing design since the early 1960's in both public and private Sectors Worked, and the practice is one of the sector's leading architects. Their work includes the masterplanning and design of urban village developments, up-market houses/apartments, social housing and shared accommodation. They seek to achieve harmony with context, emphasising local identity and creating a sense of place to meet an increasing demand from clients and the public for new buildings of character which sit comfortably within and enhance their surroundings. ESHA’s contextual approach is just one aspect of their flexible design service which responds to the circumstances of each commission – appropriateness and quality remaining the touchstone.
