Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe

(1886-1969)

American architect, born in Aachen, Germany. A pioneer of glass skyscrapers and high-rise flats, he also designed tubular-steel furniture, particularly the 'Barcelona Chair'. Became professor of architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
