Charles Rennie Mackintosh

(1868-1928)

Scottish architect, designer, and water colourist. Outstanding exponent of the Art Nouveau style in Scotland. Born in Glasgow, the son of a police superintendent, he married Margaret Mackintosh in 1900. By the end of World War I, he had given up architecture for a career in water colours, mainly in France.
